About the band

Fenner Curtis – Violin

Fenner Curtis - Violin

Fenner first took up the violin at age 8. Self-taught swing techniques followed classical tuition, and it was not long before (together with Andy Bowen) he had started a swing ensemble that would grow into what it is today.

However, his classical side is far from forgotten, playing regularly in chamber ensembles and having led at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall.

Andy Bowen – Lead Guitar

Andy Bowen - Lead Guitar

Andy began playing guitar aged 13 – and on hearing Django Reinhardt dedicated his attention purely to jazz. Andy soon began to study jazz improvisation, something that he continues to devote his time to.

Following his formative years, Andy went to study at University where he met Fenner, with whom he formed ‘Swing from Paris’.

Steve Laming – Guitar / Double Bass

Steve Laming - Rhythm Guitar

Steve has been playing, writing, arranging and teaching guitar for over 30 years. A versatile musician, he has experience in many styles – on both guitar and double bass.

Andy Wood – Lead guitar

Andy is an innovative and sought after jazz guitarist with a passion for Django Reinhardt.

Self taught and self employed, Andy plays lead guitar in many line ups throughout the UK, as well as writing and arranging for his own ensemble ‘the Amazing Spider Swing‘.
